Hey, thanks for sending me the copy of that online chat this morning. Oh wait... nobody did. I guess it doesn't matter. This project is doomed to failure anyway. May I offer a quote from the Original Proposal:
The mission is to enjoy our time together as a family.
That doesn't appear to be happening. People are stepping on each others toes right and left (myself included) and most don't seem to be doing very much "enjoy(ing) our time together as a family" so far.
I really was serious when I suggested a video scavenger hunt or something instead of this for the reunion.

Don't give it up yet Jared. I think we can do this and have it be a very special time together as a family. Give it a little more time and if it doesn't seem to be working out we can shelve it for another time. Maybe we're trying to do too much too fast but I don't think so. Let's see what Trina and Emily come up with in the next month or so and take it from there.
I love you all and I want our reunion to be special and fun, whatever we do.

That's a good reminder - that this project is to enjoy ourselves. I think many people are taking this "make a movie" project a little too seriously, and turning it into a "make a masterpiece" project. (I point no fingers - you decide for yourself if you're taking it too seriously.) For me, the fun is just now getting started, since I hope the miscommunications that I've been part of have been cleared up now. (Yes? No? If I'm still miscommunicating, email me.)
Also, if I say I'm going to email something out (like the online chat), please give me a 24-hour turn-around. It's been a busy weekend - some of Adam's co-workers, including his boss, are coming over this afternoon. We've been CLEANING.
Well Jared, I apologize if I've stepped on your toes. I'm sure some of my comments have been out of line, and not just to you.
As I spoke with Nathan yesterday, I mentioned the main line of thinking behind this project, at least on my part:
At several different family get-togethers since I've left home, a few of us have come up with different ideas for a family movie. The scale of the project would often be too much for the time, energy, and interest available, and these projects would not be completed.
There would be time for some pre-production meetings, some planning, some fighting, some storming out of the room after not getting one's way, but that was it.
What I was attempting to do by proposing this project was avoid some of those limitations by doing our planning (and fighting) ahead of time.
The fact that we've squabbled about different facets of the project does not doom it to failure, any more than squabbling in general dooms our eternal family to failure.
I don't know that we haven't enjoyed our time together. I've enjoyed talking with you about the project, and had a great time with Mom and Dad discussing it, along with several other members of the family. Most everyone has understood their roles and most everyone has done some kind of work on the project. Tawnia has been studying how to direct actors, for example.
So that's what I think. If you'd like to put together a video scavenger hunt, go for it. But I suggest it be in addition to this movie, not instead of it.
