My question wasn't answered either - WHAT conflict? I'd like to know what the heck Jared has conjured up in his mind, because I know of no major conflict that would necessitate the shutting down of the project. And what harsh realities? That someone MIGHT get in an argument? In 4 months from now? He's talking like "the war zone" is a done deal, and that's really off base. Getting everyone in the same location is not a guarantee for disaster - we did fine at the weddings 2 years ago, didn't we? And if 2 weddings in 8 days is NOT a major production, I don't know what is.
Jared, you're the only one who doesn't want to do the movie but you're willing to do your one scene ... everyone is okay with that. And I asked you to give me the music/song that you've already written. That's it. No one is forcing you to do anything. So what's the big deal here?
And after racking my brain for a good while about this, I genuinely do not remember fighting while making the movies. In fact, I remember those as GOOD times when we did NOT fight. We fought over plenty of things, but not while making a movie.
As for the why - because it's fun. It's how our family has fun. Anyone can film a talent show or a game. But we're not "anyone." We film a hide and seek game where we all hide "inside" a regular ol' beanbag chair, or scooting around on our butts with stop-action and sound effects, or whatever other nutty idea we come up with. And now we get to include Adam and Summer and Laurel and Stevie and Michelle and Brooke and Bryan and Amanda in our very own brand of lunacy. (Every family has lunacy. This is just our version.)
If nothing else, think of it as a way to incorporate the in-laws into the gang, and so the kids have their chance to bond with Grandpa on his hobby. They see him far too little as it is.

Of all the family videos that we have, my favorite things to watch are the movies. As much fun as birthdays and Christmas and such are, we generally watch them to laugh at what we are wearing or how silly we look - and we can do that AND have a plot when we watch a family movie.
