Update on Bryan

Bryan's cast will be removed on Wednesday, June 2, 2004. He will have it on for a total of 6 1/2 weeks. He's learning how to scoot around a little bit now -- I guess it's like relearning how to crawl. But I don't think he'll have any trouble relearning how to walk and run and make messes when he gets it off.

My Photographic Prowess

Hey all. I got these pictures back from Laurel's dad yesterday. I took pictures at Delwin (Laurel's brother) and Tavy's second reception in Afton Wyoming last Christmas. These are some of my favorites of my experiments with Kendall's digital camera:

I finally got a calling

6 months after leaving my ward in Salem, I finally have a calling here. It's been weird to not have one - I've always had a calling within a month of getting to a new ward. It's almost like I haven't had a reason to go to church. (I know, I know - we go to church and learn and take the sacrament, but still ...) I'm one of two teachers for the Gospel Essentials class in Sunday School. Fun stuff! I like teaching at church! Adam and I have been taking the Temple Prep class (because the Marriage Prep class at institute is over for the semester) but we might have to drop it to switch classes - the other teacher, a guy named Brian, was delighted to have a co-teacher so I can cover the next few weeks during his finals. We'll see what happens. But YAY! I have a calling!

6 Months

With all the countdowns and tracking dates, I thought I'd throw another into the mix. Six months ago, today, Jason and I were married. Wahoo! And in celebration, Jason gets to work today! Actually, he took me shopping yesterday, so I could get some new clothes.

I finally get to go to the temple, on Saturday with the Relief Society. Jason might be able to come too, but I'm still waiting on a phone call back about that. Other than that, the sun is out again, and the snow is pretty much gone. But it will probably snow again.

Better Weather

In Trina's email she said that she hoped that everyone's weather was better than hers. Yesterday, I would have said yes, mine probably is. The sky was mildly overcast, a little breezy, chilly, but still nice enough to be outdoors with just a sweatshirt. And then this morning I woke up to 3 inches of snow, and still falling. Calgary is funny like that. I was expecting at least one more snowfall before summer, if not two, and then flurries and mixed rain a few more times besides that. But when there isn't snow, it's quite beautiful. From one day to the next, or just in the span of a lunchtime, the weather can change dramatically. For the most part though, it has been sunny and beautiful.. now it's just super white to boot!

happy happy to me too

Today is the 3-month anniversary of Adam and me getting engaged. We probably won't go back to the scene of the crime ... er - event this evening because it's raining. 68 days until the wedding. For Easter, I made my first major dinner with a ham and all the fixin's. It didn't turn out as good as I wanted, but Adam said it was very nice. It wasn't bad at all for a first attempt so I'm not completely disappointed with myself, but next time, I will do better.

Happy Day after Easter!

Easter at our House

Easter at Palmer central was quite the adventure this year. Sam and Deb's kitchen is currently being remodeled and, well, basically they don't have a working kitchen at the moment. So we invited them over for Easter. We ended up with 15 people here for dinner and the mega easter egg hunt. It was great fun and pretty loud (you know, the normal holiday hub-bub). We enjoyed ourselves and yes, Nathan found his Almond Joy.

Happy Easter everyone.

Love,
Tawnia

P.S. Happy 20 months Bryan! And Congrats on the championship Eric!

Happy Easter

Well if nobody else is going to say Happy Easter, then I will. I mean I did. Whatever. Bryan is twenty months old today.

So much for "no wedding planning" this week

It's been an insane week at work, but now I get a bit of a break because Congress is gone for Easter break all next week. Hooray! I can get caught up! I was feeling pretty overwhelmed last week so I asked that no one (particularly the two moms) talk to me at all about the wedding ... it helped a lot with my focus. Thank you thank you thank you.

A few major things were taken care of this week. Adam and I found an apartment, and I move in on April 30. I will email the new address, effective May 1. We really like it. We have a home! YA HOO! The main phone for both of us will be my cell because it's a local number for DC. (His cell is a Florida number.) The soonest we'll get a land line is after the honeymoon. AND Beth and I fitted my dress. I'm amazed that Elsa was able to get it so perfect based on a list of measurements and a description over the phone. It's exactly what I want, and it fits!! Only two seams need to be adjusted, and we marked for the neckline, the length of the sleeves, and the hem. ALSO, we took more pictures but I doubt they'll be good enough for the announcements. They're with the cherry blossoms on the Tidal Basin, but it was super cold and really windy. We'll see.

Have a great Easter weekend!

We are the Champions!

Hi everybody!

Just to let you know, the Tustin 2nd Ward is the winner of the Orange California Stake Elder's basketball tournament. I coached the team this year (I even bought one of those clipboards with a diagram of the court on it and wore a jacket and tie to all the games) and we won the final last night! Our overall record was 5-2, and we beat the two teams we lost to in the playoffs. Tuesday's semi-final was a heart-pounder, we won by one point off a basket from a steal made with 5 seconds left in the game. It was pretty amazing.

So last night we actually had a good crowd there to cheer us on (there were some games when Laurel was the only one there cheering) and we beat them by eight points, or something like that. They kind of gave up at the end when three of their six players fouled out.

Just thought I'd let you know.

Eric

Spring is Here

Hey Everybody!

Tawnia here, no one has written this week, so I figured that I would. My life is being simplified a bit. I now have a guaranteed sub job for the rest of the school year. Basically I'll always be at Grandhaven Elementary in McMinnville. I have a classified job which is what I'll do if I don't have things already set up and I don't get a certified job for that day. It's nice to KNOW that I'll have work so that I don't have to worry about that.

Also I'm no longer a care provider for Jaron. I may still go over and help Deb out if she needs me, but I'm not getting paid through the state or county. This means that I have my evenings a little more free. (I've been spending my time helping Mom in the yard.)

And as to my title. Spring is here! I love the spring, don't you? Course you do.

Love,
Tawnia

Did you change your clocks?

Good morning children. I hope you remembered to "Spring Ahead". It's a good thing it's conference Sunday and we don't have our usual church schedule. In fact here at home we don't get to watch conference until later in the day. It starts at 11:30 and 3:30 today. Some hassle that the cable company has. But at least it's on.

Good news from here at home...WE HAVE A NEW STOVE WITH AN OVEN AND EVERYTHING!!! After not having an oven for a month or so we're very excited. Now I can bake Tawnia a birthday cake. Tomorrow Dad will get the dryer hooked up and we'll be all set for when everyone comes in June.

Enjoy the beautiful Spring weather.

Love to you all,
MOM

Howdy y'all

That was to make it obvious that I'm posting from Texas. This is Jared. I guess I haven't posted in a while, so here's my latest update. I've been working at Fry's Electronics just over a month now, and I requested a transfer to a different store, but that hasn't gone through the process yet. I've been told someone in the corporate office is on vacation. When it does happen I'll be working in Irving, about ten minutes from DeVry, where I still go to school. My plan is to finish all my classes December 18 and then never go to school again. Full time work plus full time school makes for very little time at home. Michelle and the kids have their tickets to Oregon now for both weddings, but I'm going to wait until the end of May to buy mine. Since I'm trying to get a store transfer and then hopefully a department transfer once I get there, I have no idea what kind of work schedule I'm going to have and what kind of time off I'll be able to get. So don't bother asking when I'll be there; the absolute best answer is I have no idea. Wait and see. Anyway, Michelle and the kids are doing pretty good. Mainly they're just frustrated that I'm never ever home, and frankly I am too. I'm gone literally all day long at least three days a week, and gone most of the day the rest of the time. Having hours of commuting doesn't help anything. All this should get alot better after I'm transferred. (Can you tell I really want to get transferred?) I guess that's all.
love Jared

79 down, 79 to go

Today is the halfway mark for Adam and me being engaged. So here's the general report:

Draft 1 of my dress arrived from California last night - I'm amazed that it's just what I wanted, based only on a description given over the phone. Beth and I are fitting it this weekend. Nadia, who I work with, is playing with my hair and making suggestions for the veil. Adam and I took pictures with Tawnia - they're very cute, but none deemed worthy of gracing the announcement. So we will shoot more, hopefully with the cherry blossoms which are in full bloom right now. We have a new joint email account. We're registering online tonight - we'll send a mass email out with the websites when it's done. We're ordering scrapbooking supplies online to make the announcements because it's too expensive to buy the stuff from local craft stores. It was actually suggested on one of the wedding advice websites that we send email announcements, but ... yeah. As much as I'd love it because of the convenience, I don't think our friends and family are THAT techie just yet.

And with all of this going on - Adam has term papers coming up, and I'm tracking major congressional action this week on 6 different topics. Busy. Very very very busy. Have a great day and don't forget General Conference this weekend - enjoy!

Love, Trina (and Adam)
