Trina-
I talked to Mom about the post you had left regarding you being upset about people praying about President Hinckley. I was teasing saying that you didn't want him to be healthy or something like that. Mom took it too serious and so posted that. I know you meant nothing ill towards President Hinckley. Sorry for the confusion.

In other news: Joshua was eating turkey apple something with a straw. He just likes it that way.

News from Florida

Since I hadn't heard anything from Clarissa yet, I decided to call the mission and make sure she got there safe and sound. The secretary had to ask who's mother I was because they had both an Elder and a Sister Palmer who arrived the same day. She said that Clarissa is currently in a threesome with Sisters Parr and Crittenden and is currently serving near De Land. (I thought she said in Palm Cove but I can't find that either on the map or online. Maybe it was Palm Coast.)
A letter from her and one from the mission president along with a picture should be arriving in the next few days. We'll put them on her as soon as possible. Her P-day will be on Monday and she can email then. It's best to send mail, especially packages, directly to the mission home. (That's the address Amanda posted.)

I found this on LDS Living and thought I'd pass it on. There was some confusion, I think, about Trina's comments about President Hinckley. I think this is what she was trying to say. Yes we will miss him but we shouldn't be too sad because he must be very happy. It certainly helps to understand the plan and know that death is not the end.

Hey Everybody

There are new pictures up. sorry for the delay. I only did half of January because that is all I had time for. If you haven't gone on Jared's virtual tour yet you should give it a try. I feel that I could give a tour of the place if I went there. Pretty cool, Jared.

I am glad to hear that Mom is home, and I can only assume that Tawnia is better so I am glad about that also. Joshua had a slight fever today. Amanda noticed there was something wrong when he wasn't eating like he usually does (2 times his body weight per meal). He is sleeping now and is in good spirits.

We are keeping busy with work, work, church, and Joshua.

We hope you guys are all doing well.

I'm Home

Thank you all for your prayers while I was in the hospital. I got home about 11:30 today. The cardiologist wants me to continue with the medicine I started taking when this problem first started. Originally I was to take it for 10 days, which I did, but a short time after it ran out things started acting up again. He talked about using more drastic measures but decided on a more conservative approach. I was waiting to call everyone until I had more of an idea what was going on but I got a nice lecture from a few of you so I'll try better to keep everyone updated.

missed one

I just wanted to let you all know that I added another piece to my page. It's actually Emily's Christmas present that I just realized I hadn't added! I also added a few credits to some pieces that used artwork from other sources besides myself.

Hinckley Video

For those of you who would like to watch an hour long video about President Hinckley's life, it can be found on ksl.com. (That would be a Utah news station.) I watched it earlier today. It is really good.

I will miss President Hinckley. I saw him several times at building dedication's while at Ricks and then in conference the times that I have gone. I was at a fireside last night. At the end of the fireside a member of our bishopric came in and then announced to us that President Hinckley had passed away. It was a bit of a shock. We all just sat there for a minute. Then my friend asked me to play a hymn. We sang the hymn that President Hinckley wrote the words for and then we sang "We Thank Thee Oh God for a Prophet." After that I had to go visiting teaching and was the one to break the news to my visiting teachee. She was very cute and said, "He'll be so happy to be with his wife!" We all know that that one has got to be true.

President Hinckley

I first heard about his passing from an upstairs neighbor who'd received a phone call. One of my roommates was disappointed because now he can't sign her mission call -- she's twenty now and will be leaving in about a year. I remember how thrilled I was when he announced the temple construction plan to double the number of temples. I also remember being in the Tabernacle for a young women's conference and how silent and reverent it was when he entered. And I was at Ricks when he came to dedicate an administration building, and I remember how we all stood when he entered and he impatiently waved his hands at us to sit down.

We will miss him.

We'll miss President Hinckley

I think the biggest thrill I had was when President Hinckley announced that we would have 100 temples by the year 2000. By the end of that year there were 102. Now things are in place for moving family history work forward at a much quicker more efficient pace. There isn't much time until the millennium. What a marvelous age we live in and what a tremendous leader President Hinckley has been.

President Hinckley

My most significant memory of President Hinckley is that I was in the Tabernacle at the Relief Society session of the fall 1995 General Conference when he introduced the Proclamation on the Family. I've been in General Conference sessions 4 other times (fall 2001, spring 2002, 2 sessions in fall 2002) and heard President Hinckley speak 3 of those 4 times. Right now, even though it's 11 pm, I want to read through my Conference Notes journals and review all the things I wrote down from his talks.

I think I will call my temple babysitting swap buddy to arrange times when we can both go to the temple this week as a tribute to President Hinckley. The talk notes I'm looking at right now are from Saturday morning session, October 2002 - President Hinckley talked about the Nauvoo Temple dedication which had recently taken place, and he said that temples were constructed to be used - going to the temple shows respect to the Father. So we should utilize them - advance the Lord's work, make covenants, learn truths, seal families, and extend blessings to our ancestors.

I am on the system again

Today's big project was getting me back on the Blog again so I can put in my two cents. I have some different projects I have been working on. My top "100 list", next summer's vacation, Frank's Fabulous Films projects, and 2007 taxes to name some.

I also am signed up on "Youtube" and going to post some of my fabulous films. So you all have some more things to look forward too.

it's official

Summer can identify all of her Palmer cousins in pictures and say passable versions of all of their names. For example, Stevie is "See-bee." She has a hard time with the R's in Brooke and Bryan, but she does okay on their names.

I just went through Mindy's page and randomly opened pictures of all the cousins, and Summer named them all. Brooke, Bryan, Stevie, Allie, and Joshy. She doesn't even attempt Rosemary - she just says Baby. She also doesn't say Summer - she says "Ah-zuh." We don't know where she came up with that , but that's what she calls herself when you ask "Who's this" and point at her (if you say "What's your name," she doesn't get it), or when you show her pictures of herself.

Rosemary is starting to play with her toys a lot more - if I put her on the play mat or in the bouncer, she bats at the hanging toys and it keeps her occupied for a good while. She's also starting to interact with Adam and me more - she holds eye contact well and smiles a lot more, and is starting to coo at people. It's very cute. She's still hungry all the time.

Pray for Tawnia

I just heard that Tawnia was very sick and throwing up all day yesterday. It's too late to call her tonight but I'll call her tomorrow and see if I can find out what's up. She sent a text message to Eric but he read it too quickly and didn't get the whole message. He was supposed to let the rest of us know. He called me to see how she was doing and that was the first I'd heard. She was fine when Mindy talked to her on Sunday. We'll all pray for you now Tawnia. Get well!!!

New Letter from Clarissa!

I emailed Clarissa this morning, and told her about our discussion about typed vs. handwritten letters. She has a different reason to prefer letters over emails. This is what she said:

"It's okay. But I do like letters better then emails now. I have more time to read them."

10 plans for Trina and Adam's house

Mindy, I like your list. I've been thinking about this one for a long time, and Adam and I could probably do a top 10 list for things we plan to do with just the kitchen when we have a house. Here are some plans I have for a house when we can finally buy one ...

1 - Turn the front living room into the library. I doubt we'll have enough bedrooms to use one as a library, so I'll just use the living room. Floor to ceiling bookshelves with every kind of book, travel mementos, and framed pictures. In the middle of the room will be 2 or 3 comfy chairs (no couch) with a table and reading lamps.

2 - Have a piano, probably in the family room which will be our living area, since the usual living room will be the library.

3 - Have an herb garden in a large window in the kitchen.

4 - Have a pantry that's not just a closet or big cupboard, but an entire room.

5 - Have a patio just outside the kitchen with a grill and table and chairs, kind of an outdoor dining room.

6 - Have a lot more pictures on the walls throughout the house than we have now, and original works by the artists Mindy Palmer, Laurel Palmer, and James Caudle that we purchase in their art galleries.

7 - Have a porch swing, either on the front or back of the house, just so I can sit outside and read sometimes.

8 - Paint Summer and Rosemary's room purple and yellow. It's solid pink right now (varying shades of it, but all pink) and by then, we will all probably be tired of pink.

9 - Have an office with all the computer stuff and paper storage (so it's all out of my bedroom), and have a futon in there so it can double as a guest room as needed.

10 - NO work or storage stuff in the master bedroom. That's what the office and/or library are for. Only our bed, our clothes, a couch or chair so we can read, and nice things like candles and framed pictures and our beach sand collection (it's in little jars). It will be our comfy sanctuary, not where we work.

Ten things that make Mindy happy

MY FAMILY - Getting phone calls, looking at pictures, reading blogs, or most especially spending time with them! I have the best siblings, and the most adorable nieces and nephews! And the most amazing parents a person could ask for.

THE GOSPEL - Having the truth! The gospel brings hope and direction and JOY! What isn't happy about the gospel? (My scripture study topic of today is happiness and joy.)

TALKING - I've realized that I love to talk! But it definitely requires a listener.

DANCING - This is not something I ever would have put on this list before. But over the past two years I have really learned that I love to dance! Ballet and tap most especially, but that's probably because I haven't learned how to dance other styles. (Or maybe I also love learning?)

ART - Or, more specifically, creating art. There's just an incredible sense of satisfaction when I'm finished with a piece. I also love sharing my art, but I think that's because compliments make me happy.

PLAYING THE PIANO - I don't do this often enough, but it helps me relax. I also love playing the duets with Tawnia, and laughing at how many mistakes we make.

READING - I love how good books allow you to escape the world and visit another. It makes long hard days a little more bearable.

MUSIC - Playing it a little too loud and singing along in my car. Lately I've been listening to the mixed CDs that Tawnia made me for Christmas. I like them especially because I can sing along. Also, some music can be inspiring!

FLIRTING - Isn't flirting all about pretending to be happier than you are, until you ARE that happy? I need to find someone to flirt with.

BEING PRODUCTIVE - I like to check things off, and feel that I've accomplished something. I'm happier at the end of the day if I've done more than sit around. (That, and I like to make lists.)

I would have called earlier except Summer and Rosemary weren't cooperating with any phone related activities, and by now, you should be out enjoying a date with Amanda that I do not want to interrupt. Please know that we did think of you today and we hope you're having a good time with life in general! We'll call you soon!
